Business confidence has dropped with high costs affecting profitability. Gaps in infrastructure have been highlighted with the recent weather events. This could easily be increased to 40% with key investment needed in infrastructure. The government has low levels of debt, currently around 20% of GDP which is very low compared to most other countries in the world. Reflecting on my 10-year journey at Kiwibank there is a flood of emotion.
